I need a new pair of shoes.
But that is a recurring theme in my life, I hang on to shoes way past their expiration date for no apparent reason. I suspect that my feet take comfort in the familiar. And when the path isn’t certain, when way forward isn’t the way, when right angles are no longer so, it’s the shoes that can be counted on. Tattered and torn from too many miles, they have found a foundational home.
Providing a known on the path of the unknown.
Today these familiar shoes trod a familiar path in the NEON district of Norfolk, lending service to All Things Photographic with an assist from a Fujifilm X-T3 and 16mm f/1.4 lens, my favorite lens of all time because it makes The Familiar The Fresh. With a fresh view, I leaned into the details, searching for the foundation of the familiar, the building blocks of the fresh.
