Eastern Shore, meet the Sirui 24mm f/2.8 1.33x anamorphic lens.

This is a quick video put together from footage I shot on a sunny-but-cold Saturday afternoon on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. I wandered a good distance and met some interesting characters along the way (a story for another time) but most of the footage included here is from Cape Charles.

This is the second anamorphic lens in my collection, I also have the 50mm f/1.8 1.33 anamorphic from Sirui, also a product of Kickstarter. It wasn’t all that long ago that the economic bar to anamorphic was way too high, measured in the 10’s of thousands of dollars. While those lenses are certainly still available, Sirui and others have found a more affordable price point, making anamorphic a viable alternative for more of us.

It’s going to take a bit more time to find the right place for these lenses but in the meantime they have definitely found a home in the camera backpack.

Have a look, tell me what you think.
