Two Anamorphic Lenses, One Fujfilm Camera, Zero Worries – An Afternoon in NEON

My wordpress site has this plugin that analyzes the headline for my posts and grades them on a scale of 0 to 100, offering suggestions about how to improve the score of my headlines. After hammering out the above, the suggestions offered are a virtual shrug of the shoulders.

So much for technology.

Today was cold and sunny. Yep, the Perfect Day to cage up my Fuji X-T3 and load up two of my newest and coolest video production toys, both from a company called Sirui: 24mm f/2.8 and 50mm f/1.8 anamorphic lenses.

These are both lightweight but well built little Vibe Machines, eschewing as much modern technology as possible while still being functional. Manual focus, real live aperture rings, the true photographic experience. Except this experience was a compilation of images configured to blur past at a rate of 23.976 images per second. Yep, moving pictures, just like at the Bijou.

And the whole anamorphic thing has legs. I’ve got 3, one for my iPhone and two for the Fuji. They are all a blast to use, they all just get out of the way and let me go about the business of whatever-it-is-that-I’m-doing.

On a side note, this whole pandemic/quarantine thing has been really good for solo project video productivity and learning, my Youtube channel is bursting at the seams! Team projects…well that is slow due to all of the logistical things of being in a pandemic. But the solo work sharpens the skills and gives me chances to jump off cliffs and learn new things.

If you are so inclined, pay a visit and linger at my YouTube page. Tell me how you liked or didn’t liked what you saw’d when you were there.
