Happy Valentine’s Day.
A few days ago, a roll of Ilford Delta 100 black and white film found its way into my Nikon F6, this time to capture images of places I pass several times a week. During this particular trip I took time to linger, to appreciate how all of these places fit together to form a community.

I’m drawn to the raw and rougher parts of our area because it is authentic. Restoration is still down the road, these places are largely as they were when first built, showing the age marks of time and weather. Of fashion long faded.

Ilford’s Delta 100 film is the perfect medium to capture these gems from a bygone day. Its fine grain and superb detail augment without getting in the way. I developed these at home (about 8.5 minutes in D-76 stock) and scanned them on my Espson V600, presenting them here largely as they came out of the camera with no edits.

I especially like the way that the reflections in the window are rendered by the Delta 100, the fine grain is vital to the final product.

Side streets can make the best detours, sometimes slowing down is the quickest path.

On today, Valentine’s Day 2019, look upon beauty and find it in new places.
